Advances in Aligner Treatment: Biomechanics and New Shape Memory Aligner Materials
Date
April 24, 2023
Biomechanics transcends all types of orthodontic treatment techniques and methods. It is more important for aligner treatment as various factors play a major role in problems related to application of magnitude of force, point of force application as will as distortion due to material properties. This presentation will describe how one can improve treatment outcomes with newer shape memory aligner material to achieve predicted tooth movement with lighter long acting force with fewer attachments.
Learning Objectives
Explain various parameters of force system and how they can be intelligently applied to achieve various tooth movements.
Demonstrate the importance of aligner materials as the force to delivered by deformation of plastic when active aligners are inserted in the mouth.
Explain the properties of new age aligner materials and how shape memory affects the tooth movement.
