Evidence-based Aligner Therapy: A New Hybrid Approach

Date
April 24, 2023

The most recent articles on the efficacy of aligners in achieving orthodontic movement have demonstrated that this type of appliance still has some important limitations. Nevertheless, aligners continue to grow in popularity among patients, for whom aesthetic and removable solutions are highly desirable. Traditional fixed appliances are no longer well tolerated by either adults or young patients, and it is therefore vital to find ways to meet their expectations.
In this lecture it will be shown how aligners can successfully resolve simple and even complex cases if combined with other auxiliaries as skeletal anchorage, distalizing appliance, lingual fixed appliances and other orthodontic tools.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand unpredictable teeth movements by aligners.
  • Realize complex teeth movement by hybrid approach.
