Improving Aligner Efficacy with Biomechanics, Materials & TADs
Date
May 5, 2024
Recently, shape memory aligners have significantly improved the biomechanics related to tooth movement. These aligners can be directly printed without the need for creating thermoformed models. The aligners fit precisely due to their shape memory properties. The force values are comparable with NiTi wires. Aligners need minimal to no attachments. This presentation will describe evidence based studies related to thermoformed and shape memory aligners.
Learning Objectives
Recognize limitations of thermoformed aligners.
Identify the characteristics of 3D printed shape memory aligners.
Evaluate basic biomechanics of thermoformed and 3D printed shape memory aligners.
