‘Light-accelerated Orthodontics’: Is it Efficient in Reducing Treatment Duration?
Date
May 7, 2019
The “Light-accelerated Orthodontics” is a trial within the scope of photobiomodulation(PBM) which accelerates the rate of tooth movement by application of 600-1000 nm wave length visible or near-infrared light generated from laser or intraoral light emitting diode(LED) device. The presentation will review the effectiveness of the PBM through the animal studies and also verify its efficacy by the clinical trial on human subjects.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the biological mechanisms of the light accelerated orthodontics.
Recognize the effectiveness and efficacy of PBM in orthodontic practice.
Figure out the technical rationale of PBM in clinical application.
