Navigating Complexities in Surgical Orthodontic Cases

Successful outcomes in the treatment of surgical orthodontic cases rely upon proper diagnosis and suitable treatment planning. Emerging 3D technologies provide powerful tools for navigating the complexity of surgical cases, especially those involving asymmetry. While patient care continues to advance with virtual surgical planning for orthognathic cases, challenges remain with respect to receiving insurance approval for the procedures. This talk will present surgical orthodontic cases in which 3D technologies offer key advantages for addressing complexity, provide an overview of difficulties associated with insurance approval, and highlight evidence pertaining to the use of 3D printing technologies.
