Date
May 7, 2018

Technology for orthodontic practices is no longer limited to the office computers. Clinical technology equipment such as lasers, intra-oral scanners, and new instrumentation presents disinfection and sterilization challenges. The added challenges of harsh chemicals, busy schedules and super bugs leads to an infection control dilemma for the otho team, “What are we supposed to do?” Seminar attendees will learn about checklists, sterilization recordkeeping and cleaning and sterilization validation to meet State Dental Board infection prevention laws and ensure patient safety. Jackie will review proper techniques and product selection for effective cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of instruments and clinical technology equipment. Attendees will learn how to implement efficient infection control systems to protect patients and the ortho team.

Learning Objectives:

  • List the 7 basic CDC Infection Prevention Standards.
  • Identify sterile instrument package for ortho instruments.
  • Recognize correct use of barriers and/or disinfectants for contaminated clinical   contact surfaces.
