Orthodontic Root Resorption: An Update for the Clinician
Date
April 23, 2023
This lecture will focus on our current knowledge and understanding of orthodontic external apical root resorption (EARR). Recent theories on etiology and risk will be presented with both scientific evidence and clinical case reports. Clinical management, however, will be the main focus of this lecture. The clinician will understand how to identify patients at risk, how to manage root resorption at progress, and what to do if root resorption is discovered at the end of treatment.
Learning Objectives
Identify the patients most at risk for EARR (external apical root resorption).
Manage EARR found at progress.
Manage EARR post-treatment and what the long term consequences are for teeth with short roots.
