This
webinar provides an in-depth look at orthodontic management options for
patients with cleft lip and palate, with a special focus on clear aligner
therapy. We’ll start with a brief review of cleft lip and palate, covering
embryology, incidence, anatomy, and the overall treatment timeline. From
there, we’ll explore the specific treatment objectives of the three cleft
orthodontic treatment phases: secondary alveolar bone graft management,
comprehensive orthodontics, and management of orthognathic surgery. Clinical
examples will be presented to illustrate the use of clear aligners at each
treatment phase, along with some pearls and pitfalls to consider.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the basics of cleft lip and palate, including the overall treatment timeline.
- Explore the objectives of the three cleft orthodontic treatment phases.
- Analyze the use of clear aligners in the clinical management of the three cleft orthodontic treatment phases.
- Evaluate the pros and cons of clear aligner use versus traditional fixed appliances in the orthodontic management of patients with cleft lip and palate.
