When a patient presents with an asymmetric smile, the dental team is often guilty of immediately thinking of solutions before a thoughtful diagnosis. A periodontist often sees an asymmetric smile in need of crown lengthening, an oral surgeon a skeletal problem, the orthodontist where TADs come in. Of course it is not that simple! In this presentation we will offer a multitude of both hard and soft tissue etiologies, as well as appropriate treatment options. An asymmetric smile may be due to just one of the etiologies, or a combination of one or all of them. We will cover all the etiologies and the many treatment options to be considered.
