AS23CT34 - Long-term Stability of Orthodontic Cases Treated with Pressure Site Decortication Procedures

‐ Apr 23, 2023 4:00pm

Orthodontic stability presents a real challenge to every clinician. For the last 14 years, Dr. Hernandez-Orsini has treated a vast number of cases using pressure site decortication procedures with the main purpose of achieving difficult orthodontic movements in the correction of difficult malocclusions. Our technique rests on well known basic bone physiology concepts. As a long term effect of these procedures, we have observed a sustained minimal relapse after completing those treatments. In this presentation, he will share long term stability of cases treated for the correction of vertical, antero-posterior and traverse discrepancies

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify orthodontic movements with compromised prognosis for long term stability.
  • Demonstrate with clinical evidence the improved long term stability of cases treated by pressure site decortication procedures.
  • Recognize when this technique could be utilized to achieve better long term results.
