The long term benefit that a patient receives from orthodontic treatment is directly related to the initial decisions that the orthodontist makes about that particular person’s treatment plan. The resolution of any malocclusion is dependent upon the treatment plan. In fact, the most critical part of malocclusion correction is the formulation of the treatment plan. This presentation presents some steps that every clinician should consider as the treatment plan for a patient is developed. The patient records that exhibit the treatment planning process and the long term stability of the treated result will be shown.
Course objectives include:
Discuss the four areas that must be considered during the formulation of a treatment plan
Explain a differential diagnostic difficulty index
Discuss the benefit verses burden of various treatment plans presented
