Uncommon Solutions for Missing Teeth: Dare to Think Differently!

‐ May 6, 2019 3:25pm

Orthodontic treatment planning for patients with congenitally or traumatically missing teeth can be challenging - particularly if the anterior maxillary area is affected. Especially in adolescents or young adults, space closure is generally preferred over prosthodontic replacement of the missing dental elements in the sensitive aesthetic zone, but this may require unusal "out-of-the-box" treatment planning. An interesting array of clinical patients representing extremely demanding situations due to missing teeth and addressed with uncommon, but most rewarding treatment approaches, will surprise even the most experienced orthodontic experts.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply simple, but very efficient treatment strategies for orthodontic space closure in patients with missing teeth.
  • Solve complex situations for missing teeth with no or only very limited prosthodontic work.
  • Comprehend how comprehensive orthodontic tooth movement can significantly improve severe hard and soft tissue periodontal defects in selected patients.
