Heather Salyers MPT

Heather Salyers, MPT has been practicing in outpatient orthopedics since 1992. In 1998, she pursued post-graduate training in specialized manual therapy techniques, including assessment and treatment of TMD. She has enjoyed treating TMD patients since then, and TMD patients comprise 30% of her private practice, Personal Touch Physical Therapy & Wellness Center, that she opened in 2004. At the request of Dr. Normand Boucher, DDS, she developed a one day extra-curricular seminar class “Management of TMJ Dysfunction – a Collaborative Approach Utilizing PT Intervention” for Univ of Penn orthodontic students. The prevalence of TMD among wind musicians piqued her interest in the high rate of repetitive over-use injuries amongst musicians which led her to develop and teach an “Injury Prevention for Musicians” course for West Chester University. She also was a recurring guest lecturer at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Her commitment to supporting professional growth and education is evident in her on-site residency program that provides each clinician joining her practice with the education and training necessary to become proficient in advanced manual therapy skills for treating patients with spinal dysfunction as well as TMD and headaches.
