3D Direct Resin Printed Removable Appliances and Aligners: A New Approach
Date
April 23, 2023
In this lecture, Dr. Graf will give an overview of how to virtually plan and direct print removable appliances like the twinblock or other classic devices. He will talk about what is possible to replace with 3D printing compared to the classic hand-made approach, how to add functional elements, springs or screws. As he sees still many problems, mainly due to printable material restrictions, he tries to offer a solution and outline how these problems can be resolved by choosing the right materials. And he will present new possibilities how to plan direct printed aligners with more elements and features, than just single-tooth movement.
Learning Objectives
Virtually plan and 3D print basic removable orthodontic appliances in-house.
Recognize possible production problems for 3D printed removable appliances and solve them with the right choice of material and design.
Think around the corner with direct printed aligners, when it comes to specific features like class II correction and overcome them with add-on elements during the virtual planning and direct printing process.
