Dr. Kristen Lowe sits down for A Conversation with Dr Barry Grayson regarding his Perspective on the Primary Care of Infants Born with Cleft Lip and Palate, the Evolution of NasoAlveolar Molding (NAM) and Craniofacial Orthodontics as a Subspecialty of Dentistry (1.25 CE). This presentation will cover the rational for PreSurgical orthopedic treatment of the infant born with cleft lip and palate, plus the evolution and emergence of NAM as one of the more accepted treatment alternatives in this field. Some of the recently published long term growth data on NAM in UCLP will be presented and discussed. The conversation will include the emergence of Craniofacial Orthodontics as a subspecialty of Dentistry and what it’s role is in the rehabilitation of individuals with various craniofacial anomalies.

Learning objectives:
The participant in this discussion will be able to describe the rational for PreSurgical infant orthopedics for patients born with cleft lip and palate
You will be able to describe the difference between the Grayson-Santiago NAM protocol of care from other variations of NAM.
Ability to discuss how craniofacial orthodontics (CFO) gained recognition by the ADA and AAO as a subspecialty of dentistry and the role of CFO on a team treating patients with various craniofacial anomalies.
