Catastrophes in Orthodontics

Date
June 27, 2021

Most orthodontists enjoy the comfort of treatment progressing relatively smoothly. Sound diagnostic processes, biologically sensitive treatment plans and biomechanical strategies are required with associated risk management processes in place to minimise the opportunities to fall off the rails. Some significant issues may develop unexpectedly even when the processes are in place but busyness often impedes the harmonious flow of the aforementioned processes and clinicians may find that they are in a difficult position when sound risk management processes are not consistently applied.

Learning Objectives:

  • Consider risk management strategies to minmize the liklihood of unfortunate events during and after orthodontic treatment.
  • Recognize challenging biomechanical circumstances when using TADS.
  • Recognize, evaluate and manage postsurgical complications in combined surgical orthodontic patients.
