Clinical Management of Anterior Vertical Display with Consideration of Esthetics, Function and Alveolar Housing
Date
April 22, 2023
The harmonious anterior vertical display with symmetrical facial pattern and dentition is one of the primary important factors to be considered in the successfully clinical management of the orthodontic patient. The gummy smile patient with excessive upper anterior alveolar housing problem can be managed by orthodontic brackets, aligner, HP J hook with the aid of TADs or surgical orthodontics. As for the patient suffered from upper anterior alveolar housing insufficiency, desired clinical effects with good esthetic and function can be achieved by well management of occlusal plane by way of rapid palatal expander in combination with extrusive biomechanics or considering of surgical orthodontics. The patient with insufficient anterior vertical display caused by severe attrition of the upper and lower dentition, clinical managements will be by way of either maintaining of original skeletal vertical dimension or increasing the skeletal vertical dimension. The presenter will present diagnosis and treatment mechanisms for different types of patients with the problems of anterior vertical display. The better and more harmonious nasolabial unit and labiomental sulcus of the face with pleasing smile can be achieved by orthodontic treatment in consideration of incisor position with proper torque control.
