Join Dr. Inglehart for Orthodontists and Their Patients from LGBTQ+ Backgrounds: Status quo Considerations and Future Needs (1.0 CE). In 2016, a national survey of dental school and dental hygiene program administrators reported that a large percentage of programs did not educate their students about treating patients from LGBTQ+ backgrounds. Recent surveys also showed that practitioners did not consider that they were well educated about these topics.
Yet surveys indicate that a significant percentages of practitioners report that they have patients who self identify as Lesbian, Gay or Bisexual (LGB) or as transgender (T) as well as patients on puberty blockers or receiving gender affirming care. These findings raise the question what dental care providers and their staff should know about the oral health, risk factors for poor oral health and oral healthcare utilization of patients from LGBTQ+ backgrounds to become well equipped to provide optimal care for these patients. This informative session is being provided to assist orthodontists and staff to help provide better overall care for all patients.

A number of forecasters see a growing risk of recession for the United States as inflation sky rockets, what does this mean for orthodontic practices? A recession is defined “as a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months” and they generally occur when there is a widespread drop in consumer spending.
What we will incur in the near future is very different from what orthodontic practices saw last year, we will see patients shift from “I want orthodontic treatment” to “do I really need orthodontic treatment?”.
Our team will dive into industry data and what we learned from the “great recession” and economic meltdown in 2008.
Topics to be discussed;
Recessions come and go, but some are more severe and last longer than others. This webinar we will discuss how an economic downturn will impact orthodontic practices and how owners can prepare their practices for what’s ahead.
