Why CBCT Will Save Our Specialty

Date
April 24, 2023

There are many uses for CBCT in orthodontics, but which ones make a difference in the diagnosis, treatment planning and evaluation of our finished results? The speaker will explain how the size and shape of the Alveolar Housing varies not only between individuals but can vary within the same individual’s arch. The size and shape of the Alveolar Housing is currently not a major consideration in orthodontic treatment planning, mainly because it could not be visualized prior to CBCT. Both the Six Keys and Cephalometric Analysis implies that the Alveolar Anatomy is about the same size and shape for all our patients, this could not be further from reality. Once the dental profession realizes the significance of the Alveolar Housing Anatomy as an important consideration for orthodontic treatment, he believes it will return to the Specialty arena where it belongs.
