F. Kurtis Kasper PhD

F. Kurtis Kasper, PhD, holds an appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry. He earned a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a PhD in Bioengineering from Rice University. His research applies fundamentals of engineering, materials science, and the biosciences toward the development and evaluation of biomaterial-based technologies to meet clinical needs. Results of his investigations have led to more than 115 peer-reviewed publications, which have collectively received over 5,000 citations. Dr. Kasper has been recognized with a variety of awards and honors, including the Outstanding Bioengineering Graduate Alumnus Award of Rice University, the Young Investigator Award of the Society For Biomaterials, the Young Alumnus Award of the Alumni Association of Case Western Reserve University, the Hershel M. Rich Invention Award of Rice University, and the Young Investigator Award of the North American Chapter of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society. He was also honored recently with UTSD Dean's Excellence Award in the Scholarship of Integration (2016) and the Scholarship of Application (2017). Dr. Kasper presently serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including Experimental Biology and Medicine and the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, Part A.
